The Council is the governing body of the Church, and meets monthly to discuss Church business and ministry. They want to hear from you -- all your questions, concerns, and inspired ideas.

Council President, term 2015-2018

Wow! I can hardly believe I'm entering my third year on Church Council. When I think back to what my greatest hope for Messiah was in the coming years, it was to pack the 11am service. Although we haven't been able to do so every Sunday, we've had our share of full houses. It is still my hope that we can make every Sunday a near capacity worship event. Even if there are a few empty shares, the Holy Spirit is ever-present and in great abundance. Hope to see you on a Sunday soon.

Council term 2017-2020

I am a member of Messiah Church. I am Liberian and I love sports such as football, basketball, etc. I also love positive friends -- God's loving people.

Council Secretary, term 2017-2018

Debora is a writer, editor, and musician, amongst many other things! After graduating with degrees in English and Music from Gustavus, Debora earned a degree in Pre-Veterinarian Medicine from the University of Minnesota before obtaining her M.A. in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Debora is the mother of very different twin boys in the third grade, both of whom fascinate her and inspire a great deal of her writing. One of her favorite things to do is grab the boys, their energetic Jack Russell, and various bikes/scooters/hiking sticks to experience the love of God through nature.

Hey! My name is Shaneta. I'm 24 years old. I will be attending Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS in the fall. My major is Paralegal Technology, and my minor is in Education. I love Jesus and I love music and working with youth.

Council term 2017-2020

Theron's background as an MOW outreach coordinator for Community Emergency Services (CES) in South Minneapolis is a wonderful asset to Messiah's Council as they look forward to their outreach ministries. CES, just blocks from Messiah, is active in providing nourishing food to Phillips residents. We welcomed him and his wife Marie as members in 2016.

Council term 2017-2019

Hello Congregation! I first came to Messiah at the beginning of the "Messiah Bridge 11am service" at the Old Church site. It was an eye-opening and spiritually-founding beginning for me on my journey in Christ and His beloved community. Residing in the Phillips neighborhood has given me an opportunity to witness Church in action, in community. Christ in real time. My roles at Messiah have been Messiah Bridge Singers, Mission Community, Prayer Chain, Altar Guild, and assisting in annual events and other special community outreach.

Council Vice President, term 2017-2019

I've been a member of Messiah since 2004. I joined Messiah when I was going through a very hard time in my life, and everyone was so uplifting and supportive of me. They helped me get into college. Now, I am property manager of Messiah's Old Campus

Council term 2017-2019

I am celebrating 50 years of belonging to the Community of Messiah. I am excited to serve on the Council as we look forward to the next 50 years. I am interested in new ideas and approaches. I ask for prayers for the Council as well as your ideas and hopes.

Council term 2017-2018

I have been the drummer in the church band now for around 15 years. It has been great for my spirit and my musicianship. I played several years in the old church. I loved playing there. The new church is cool but different. I have been on the Church Council for about eight months. It is eye opening and fun to be a part of. IT gives me insight on what is going on in the Church.
